26 promoted IPS officers yet to get new postings
patnA, Jan. 1 -- Twenty-six Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in Bihar, who were promoted on December 23, have not been allocated new postings, and only their present posts have been upgraded until further orders by the Bihar home department.
This, according to some promoted officers, has created confusion about their ranks and seniority. A glaring example is the Saran range, where two superintendents of police (SPs) have been promoted to deputy inspectors general (DIGs) while there is already a range DIG (Saran), Nilesh Kumar. Saran SP, Kumar Ashish, and Gopalganj SP Manoj Kumar Tiwari have been promoted as DIGs. In Patna Rail, SP Inamul Haque Manganoo has been promoted to the DIG rank, while there is already a Rail DIG, Rajeev Mishra.
"There will be a problem as to who will review the SP promoted to the DIG rank. Usually, a DIG reviews an SP, but when both are of the same rank, it will not be possible," said a senior official of the police headquarters, who did not want to be quoted.
He said that the decision is of the home department, and the headquarters will take a call at a later stage. "The promotion was necessary, and it was to be made effective from January 1. Now the home department will see what is to be done next regarding the allocation of exact postings for the promoted officers," he added.
Earlier, on December 23, the state government promoted 26 IPS officers, including ADG (headquarters) Kundan Krishnan (1994 batch), who was promoted to director general (DG). He is also holding the charge of ADG (Operations).
.The 2008-batch IPS officers Manoj Kumar, currently posted as DIG Kosi Range, Sanjay Kumar, posted as DIG (EoU), and Vivekanand, currently posted as DIG (STF), were promoted as IGs.
Their posts have also been upgraded until further notice....
