2.13 mn voters still to submit verification even as SIR reaches concluding days
PATNA, July 23 -- The State Election department has intensified the process of identifying voters who have still not filled up the enumeration forms (ER) or not available at their given addresses with only three days left before the conclusion of the Special Intensive Revision ( SIR) of the electoral rolls.
A press note issued by the Election Commission of India( ECI) said that the Chief Electoral officer, Bihar, Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, district election officers ( DEOs), electoral registration officers (EROs) and booth level officers (BLOs) have held meetings with representatives of all recognised parties and submitted them a list of 2.136 million voters, who have still not submitted their ERs.
The political parties in the state have also been given the list of 52 lakh voters, who are either dead, permanently shifted or have their names registered at two places.
Till July 22, 97% of the total 78.9 million voters have been included of which 90.67% voters have submitted their forms of which 90.37% have been digitised. Remaining 2.70% ( 2.135 million) voters are yet to submit their forms, the release said.
After SIR, Bihar will become the first state in the country where no polling station will have more than 1,200 electors, the Election Commission announced on Monday....
