PATNA/Ara, July 23 -- Three persons, wanted in the murder of gangster Chandan Mishra at a hospital in Patna, were arrested in Bihar's Bhojpur district on Tuesday following a gunfight with the police and two of them getting bullet injuries, officials said. Those arrested were identified as Balwant Kumar, Raviranjan Kumar Singh and Abhisekh Kumar, they said. Balwant and Raviranjan were shot as they tried to escape when police approached them, police officers aware of the raid said. Shahabad range deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Satyaprakash confirmed the incident and said that the alleged shooters, Balwant and Raviranjan, are natives of Buxar and Bhojpur respectively. Police had identified five shooters from the CCTV footage that had caught them entering the ICU room number 209 of Paras hospital in Patna on July 17 early morning. While the lead shooter, Tausif Badshah, who was uncapped unlike other four, was immediately recognised after the CCTV video went viral. The third was identified as Balwant and fifth as Raviranjan. Balwant has also been named in the FIR filed by Mishra's father as an accused in the Chandan Mishra murder case and the Patna police had even pasted a proclamation order at his house on Saturday. The Tuesday shootout took place at around 5am when the STF intercepted a group of criminals said to be linked to Mishra's murder. Acting on a tip-off, STF Patna and Bhojpur police launched a joint operation near Katia Road in Bihia police station area. The input had indicated that three accused in the Chandan Mishra murder case were present near Bihiya railway station and were heavily armed.
