2 teens drown in ganga, one missing: police
PATNA, March 26 -- Two out of five teenagers who drowned in the Ganga on Wednesday died at Damrahi ghat under Malsalami police station, police said. Two others were rescued, while one remained missing till the filing of the report, according to the police.
The police sent the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem while the search for the third boy was being conducted.
The deceased were identified as Rohit Kumar,16, of Yogipur under Patrakar Nagar police station and Ganesh Kumar, 17, of Kankarbagh, The missing boy has been identified as Shibu Kumar, 18.
Locals said a group of five teenagers had reached Damrahi ghat with their families on Chaithi Chhath puja being held in the vicinity. "After offering prayers around 8am, five friends entered the river Ganga to bathe. Although police personnel on duty and family members repeatedly warned them not to cross the danger mark or the barricading, the boys bypassed the safety barriers and were swept away by the current," said locals.
A police team from Malsalami police station led by SHO Sunil Kumar and state disaster response force along with divers arrived and found the bodies of Rohit and Ganesh....
