2 killed in separate celebratory firing incidents in Bihar
PATNA, May 9 -- Two persons were killed and two minors injured in two separate incidents of celebratory firing on Wednesday night in Bihar, police said.
The incident occurred at a religious ceremony held at the residence of Bachchu Yadav in Mora-Talab (Navadapar) under Bhaganbigha police station in Nalanda district.
Bachchu, who is a suspect in the murder case of Kaushlendra's brother, is absconding, an officer said.
The deceased was identified as 53-year-old Kaushlendra Gope. The deceased's wife, Reena Devi, alleged that a bar girl dance was organised at the Tilak ceremony, during which "a gunman, acting on the instructions of Bachchu, fired indiscriminately, fatally injuring Kaushlendra."
He was declared dead at Sadar Hospital. She claimed that the gunman deliberately targeted her husband.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that a Tilak ceremony for Chhote Lal Yadav was underway, accompanied by a dance programme. A man in an inebriated state, watching the function, opened fire using a country-made weapon.
One bullet passed through the arm of 12-year-old Subham and struck Kaushlendra from behind," said Nalanda superintendent of police (SP) Bharat Soni, adding that Subham is out of danger.
Following the incident, an FIR was registered against Bachchu under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In yet another incident under the jurisdiction of Ghonswari police station in Patna, a 48-year-old Karu Paswan, a resident of Nalanda, was killed during celebratory firing at a wedding function.
Paswan, the groom's uncle, was travelling with the wedding procession from Asthama in Nalanda.
"The firing began when the groom's party reached Ishanagar village. A bullet struck Paswan in the mouth, killing him on the spot," a police officer said. Meanwhile, a probe has been launched into the incident....
