PATNA, May 20 -- A joint team of Bihar and Gujarat police arrested two persons in connection with the abduction and subsequent murder of a private security agency owner Chandhrabhan Dubey, who owned Dubey Security Services (DSS) in Surat, from a place falling under the jurisdiction of Jagdishpur police station in Bhojpur district on Monday. They were later produced before the Ara Court for transit remand, police said. The arrested persons were identified as Rashid Ansari (27) and his cousin, Mansur Ansari (26). Dubey had employed 200 security guards on his payroll across various locations in Surat. Ansari, earlier an auto-rickshaw driver in Surat, won Dubey's confidence, for the last 18 months, and he was employed for payments and collections related works of the DSS. Dubey's dismembered body was recovered on May 16, stuffed in two bags from the Mithikhadi rivulet in Surat's Limbayat area, four days after he went missing on May 12. The following day, Rashid Ansari joined the search operations alongside the Surat Crime Branch and Dubey's family in an apparent attempt to deflect suspicion. However, as police began scrutinising CCTV footage, he grew apprehensive of being caught and subsequently went underground. A manhunt was launched after surveillance footage and other evidence confirmed Rashid Ansari's involvement. He had allegedly abducted and murdered Dubey in a bid to extort a ransom of Rs.3 crore. According to reports, Dubey left his office at 6 pm in Ansari's auto. They first went to the Pandesara CETP plant, where Dubey made payments to the guards there. He then went to a school in Abhwa to pay other guards. As he did not return home, his family members called Ansari, asking about his whereabouts. Ansari told them that he dropped Dubey near CB Patel Stadium and that he got into a white car there. The family searched for Dubey until the morning of May 13, after which they registered a missing person report at Althan police station. During the investigation, police found that Rashid Ansari allegedly took Dubey to his residence in Bhindi Bazar, where he murdered him and dismembered the body. The body parts were then stuffed into bags and disposed of in the Limbayat rivulet on the morning of May 13. After committing the crime, both Rashid and his cousin Mansur Ansari fled to their native village under the jurisdiction of Jagdishpur police station in Bihar. Althan Police Inspector D.D. Chauhan said, "Police examined more than 500 CCTV cameras. One of the footage revealed that Dubey never got into any car and remained seated in the auto-rickshaw. He was also not seen exiting Rashid Ansari's residence. On the morning of May 13, Rashid was captured on CCTV leaving his house with two bags, which he loaded onto his bike and rode away." "Mansur confessed to his involvement in the crime. We suspect that money may not have been the only motive behind Dubey's abduction and murder," Inspector Chauhan added, noting that the accused would be taken on police remand for more investigation....
