BHABUA, May 12 -- Headless bodies of two unidentified persons were recovered beneath Durgawati river bridge on Mohania - Chausa National Highway near Panserwa village under Ramgarh police station of Kaimur district on Monday. Police said, around 10 am, locals reported a foul stench emanating from beneath the bridge. They then discovered bodies floating on the water, followed by sighting of severed limbs and human remains stuffed inside two blue suitcases. Circle inspector Sunil Kumar Nirjhar, followed by SP Hari Mohan Shukla arrived at the scene. Police recovered the severed body parts of two individuals, whose hands, legs and torso had been severed in 18 pieces, from different sections of the river. Fingernails of a severed hand bore traces of nail polish. One of the bodies probably belonged to a 10-12 yr-old child and the suitcases got opened in the process of being thrown into the river, police said. The police, with the help of divers, unsuccessfully searched the river for hours for the severed heads to establish the identity of the deceased. The criminals probably had dumped the heads at another location, they said. The FSL, district intelligence unit and dog squad were deployed to assist with the investigation. Videography and photography of the crime scene was conducted to ensure that no evidence was tampered with. The SP said by the manner in which the bodies were dismembered and discarded, it was evident that the perpetrators executed this crime in a premeditated and calculated manner at a different place. They dumped the bodies in the river to destroy the evidence. There had been no reports of missing persons from any police station across the district. However, information regarding missing persons had been requested from the bordering districts in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
