PATNA, May 25 -- The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Saturday caught two government officials red-handed while accepting bribes in separate operations, officials said. In the first case, Ajay Kumar Mandal, a revenue official-cum-circle inspector posted in Jaynagar, Madhubani district, was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs.3 lakh from a complainant. The bribe was allegedly demanded for facilitating land demarcation and verification processes. The operation was carried out by the VIB's core team following a complaint lodged on May 21. Despite Mandal's attempts to evade detection by frequently changing the meeting location, he was apprehended at a house near the Indo-Nepal border. The trap was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sujeet Kumar Sagar. The VIB team recovered the bribe money on the spot. In the second case, Akash Kumar Das, a computer operator at the Sasaram Circle Office, was caught accepting a bribe of Rs.1.10 lakh for facilitating a land mutation process....
