184 Indian MBBS students return amid Nepal crisis
BETTIAH, Sept. 14 -- Amid the ongoing strife in Nepal, 184 Indian students, who were pursuing MBBS at Bharatpur in Chitwan district of Nepal, returned on Friday evening, thanking the Nepal police for support.
Confirming this, Vikash Kumar, Inspector of 47th Sastra Seema Bal (SSB), deputed at Raxaul, said as many as 184 medical students belonging to the College of Medical Sciences (CMS) and Chitwan Medical College (CMC) entered the Indian territory via Bharat Nepal Matripul in Raxaul in East Champaran, about 230 km from the state capital, on Friday evening.
"They were brought here in buses under the protection of Nepal armed police force (APF). Later, they left for their home states," said the SSB officer.
Speaking to the media persons, the students expressed their gratitude for Nepal police. "We all had to stay within the campus due to the movement. However, our classes have remained suspended," said Yash Jaiswal, a medical student who hails from Ghorasahan in East Champaran.
Nikahat Praween, a student from Muzaffarpur, said she did not perceive any threat on the college campus. "But I am very much relieved after gaining access to my country. Will return once normalcy is restored," she said.
When contacted, Gautam Mishra, Superintendent of Police (SP), Nepal's Parsa district, described the situation as under control.
"There has been curfew only at night. It will remain imposed from 9pm on Saturday to 5am on Sunday. There are no untoward incidents reported from any parts of the district, though some rumours swirled," Mishra said....
