17 Koda gang members arrested
PATNA, June 14 -- The infamous Koda gang, which indulges in all kinds of crime from theft, loot and snatching to snatching was busted in joint operation of Katihar and STF on Friday. The gang comprising 19 Members had become a challenge for the police due to its growing notoriety and frequent strikes.
The gang members use high-speed motorcycles to swoop in and snatch money from people while they leave bank branches. The police said that 17 motorcycles, ornaments and various other articles recovered from the gang members. Most of the recovered articles were stolen and snatch from the gang members. "All 17 gang members have criminals' antecedents.
The members of Koda gang belong to Korah village of Katihar district. The gang takes full preparation before carrying out the robberies. The gang members own high speed bikes. Before committing the crime, they do complete recce which prevents them from getting caught by police," said additional director general of headquarters, Kundan Krishnan.
Police said that acting on a tip-off a joint team of district and STF police personnel surrounded Nayatola Jurabganj ward number-1 and carried out searches of suspect criminals. At around 4.30am three suspects coming from NH-31 and they try to escape after seeing police team. Police chased them caught three persons identified as-Mahesh Kumar Yadav, Rocky Banjara and his brother Pawan Banjara, recovered 33 litres IMFL from their possession.
During the searches of village, police detain 31 suspects with 17 motorcycles, gold and silver ornaments and brought them at Kodha police station for further interrogation. Seventeen of them found criminal antecedents identified as - Ganesh Yadav, his brother Kishan alias Krishna Yadav, Sagar Yadav, Nihal Yadav, Mithun Yadav, Rohit Yadav, Matru Yadav, Kanhaiya Yadav, Sudama Yadav alias Santosh Yadav, Binod Yadav, Dipu Yadav, Chandan Yadav, Gulla Yadav, Rajan Yadav and Samir Yadav all residents of Nayatola Jurabganj locality. Police have recovered silver coin, mangal sutra, five gold rings, two gold lockets, three gold chains and Rs 41,400 cash from their possession. ADG Kundan told HT that Dipu, Rohit and Ganesh Yadav faces two criminal cases each, Satish Yadav faced six criminal cases, Sagar Yadav faces 11 criminal cases, Sudama Yadav faces seven criminal cases besides Mahesh and Rocky Yadav faces three criminals' cases each lodged in separate police stations of Bihar.
The Katihar police superintendent said members used to follow people who withdrew money from banks and kept the money in vehicles, which they stole by breaking them open....
