13 cyber criminals arrested in Patna in spl police operation
PATNA, Oct. 12 -- Thirteen members of an inter-state cyber criminal gang were arrested on Saturday after they gathered at a hotel and banquet in Khajapura, under Shastri Nagar police station, to plan a major cybercrime. Several electronic gadgets were seized during the operation, police said.
Nitish Chandra Dhariya, SHO-cum-DSP of the Cyber Police Station, said that based on credible information and considering the seriousness of the case, a special team conducted a swift raid. Thirteen suspects were taken into custody: five from Uttar Pradesh, two each from Gaya and Muzaffarpur, and one each from Jehanabad, Araria, and Nalanda.
Interrogation and technical examination of the seized mobile phones revealed multiple suspicious bank accounts. Investigation through a special portal linked these accounts to around 40 cases of cyber fraud registered in different states, involving a total amount exceeding Rs.14 crore.
Police further revealed that the gang operated large-scale financial frauds via task assignments on Telegram, online job offers, Bitcoin investments, microfinance loans, and gaming apps. Raids and legal actions are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang....
