SASARAM, May 13 -- A special team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued 12 minor girls from the clutches of child traffickers at Dehri-on-Sone railway station of East Central Railway on Sunday night. The girls were seen with a person in suspicious condition near an under-construction toilet on platform 3 of the railway station, rail police said. Superintendent of police (Rail), Patna Amritendu Shekhar Thakur said after being questioned the man disclosed his identity as Niranjan Kumar (28), of Masaurhi in Patna district. He said the girls belonged to poor tribal families from different villages in Palamau district of Jharkhand. The man was taking them to Eveready Spinning Mill located in Didigal town of Tamil Nadu to work as labourers. All the girls were in the age group of 14 to 17 years, police added. A case was registered against the person with the Government Railway Police (GRP) police station under Child Trafficking Act and Child Labour Act . The accused is being questioned about the people involved in this racket and the children trafficked by them to different states. After informing the families of the rescued girls, the girls were handed over to Child Line Sasaram for further action, GRP Dehri-on-Sone SHO Sayeeda Khatoon said. Despite the campaign by the railway police, cases of child trafficking are increasing rapidly in the DDU - Gaya railway section. The traffickers are sending poor dalit and tribal children from Jharkhand and Gaya, Jamui, Jehanabad, Aurangabad and Rohtas districts of Bihar to the western and southern states by luring the families for bright future of their children and good earnings. These children are reportedly forced to work for 12 to 18 hours like bonded labourers in inhuman conditions.
