10 arrested in West Bengal in Patna hospital murder case
PATNA, July 20 -- The Patna police suspended eight policemen of four police stations including Shastri Nagar, Gandhi Maidan, Sachivalaya and Gardanibagh on the charges of dereliction of duties. The suspension comes in the wake of July 16 murder of jailed gangster Chandan Mishra at Paras hospital in Patna.
The murder had raised serious questions on police alertness because five shooters had brazenly committed the murder, with their pictures and videos going viral on social media. Out of eight, five of them including a sub-inspector, two assistant sub-inspectors and two constables attached with Shastri Nagar police station were suspended for lapses in the patrolling duty.
Meanwhile, at least 10 persons were held for questioning from Kolkata and New Town area in North 24 Parganas district on Saturday by police officials of Bihar and West Bengal in connection with the Paras hospital murder. While the STF of Bihar Police and West Bengal police held five persons on Saturday morning in New Town in North 24 Parganas, late in the evening the Kolkata Police's STF held five more from a guest house in Anandapur area.
