PURNEA, Nov. 23 -- AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi offered help to the new Nitish Kumar government in the state, saying that provided the government takes the development push to the villages of Seemanchal region. Owaisi's party, All India Muslim Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has won five seats in the same region which has a big chunk of Muslim population. Owaisi said this while he was addressing a public event in Amour, the winning constituency of AIMIM's Bihar unit chief Akhtarul Iman. While Owaisi offered assistance to the government, he also alleged that the Bihar government had been doing Patna and Rajgir centric development projects. "Away from Patna and Rajgir, we want development to reach Seemanchal districts and villages," Owaisi said. "I will continue to raise the issue of Seemanchal's backwardness until this age long problem is sorted out," he said while expressing gratitude to the people for their support in elections. "Your (people's) support has increased our responsibilities and we will continue to work for the region's development," he said. He also exhorted his party MLAs to not be resilent and work for the people with active zeal and reach out to peole and help them resolve their issues. He also warned his MLAs against shifting loyalties as some had done after 2020 elections. In 2020 four of AIMIM's five MLAs had defected RJD, reducing its strength to just one. The AIMIM in 2025 Bihar election repeated its 2020 performance by winning five seats. The party even defeated Shahnawaz Alam who had defected to RJD in 2022. Alam is the son of former minister Mohammad Taslimuddin. Three others who had defected to RJD were not given tickets in the election. "We have now proved our worth in Bihar's politics and we are working on our further expansion," Bihar AIMIM chief Akhatarul Iman said. The AIMIM, according to reports, is planning to focus on two Muslim-dominated districts of West Bengal -- Malda and Murshidabad -- for upcoming elections in the state....
