'True guardians of nation': Nadda hails forces during border visit
Pithoragarh, May 19 -- Union minister for health and family welfare JP Nadda on Sunday said the security forces' unwavering commitment continue to make the nation both proud and safe.
While lauding the bravery and dedication of India's security forces during his one-day visit to Gunji village on the India-China border in Pithoragarh district, Nadda said: "You are the true guardians of the nation. Because of your bravery and dedication, India remains safe. The country salutes your sacrifice and service. I personally commend your excellent performance during Operation Sindoor."
The Union minister arrived at the Gunji helipad at 11.45 am, where he received a ceremonial welcome from local Rung community villagers, as well as representatives of the Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). During his interaction, Nadda also inspected the weaponry and equipment used for border security and lauded the courage and unwavering commitment of the troops.
He also had darshan of Adi Kailash from Jollingkong and offered his prayers. "Prime Minister Modi's visit to Adi Kailash area has not only highlighted the spiritual significance of the region at the national and international level but also gave it a new identity as an adventure and spiritual tourism hub. As a result of this, the number of devotees and tourists coming here has increased manifold," he said.
During his visit, he also reviewed ongoing development projects under the Union government's Vibrant Villages Programme, which aims to make remote border villages like Gunji migration-free by promoting tourism and generating local employment opportunities.
Pithoragarh district magistrate Vinod Goswami briefed the Union minister on the progress of various initiatives.
"We informed the Union minister about the advancements under tourism-related schemes, including the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 programme. Additionally, local products made by villagers are now being supplied to paramilitary forces through cooperatives run by women and local farmers," Goswami added....
