PATNA, Sept. 22 -- Fissures in RJD's first family has intensified with RJD chief Lalu Prasad's second daughter Rohini Acharya continuing to take oblique potshots at party affairs and also at Tejashwi Yadav's close confidant MP Sanjay Yadav. On Sunday, Acharya made two posts on her Facebook account having loaded political meanings and also asserted that she was not keen on fighting assembly polls or seeking a Rajya Sabha seat or any post in the near future, if the party comes to power. "I am being defamed by trolls and rumours about taking over the party. For me, my self respect, commitment and reverence for my parents and prestige of my family is paramount," Acharya said, which was seen as a 'damage control exercise' and also certain pressure coming from RJD top brass after her cryptic posts in last few days, which has fuelled speculations about a growing rift between her and younger brother Tejashwi. Interestingly, earlier in the day on Sunday, in her post to wish people on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya, Acharya said that people should have respect for every mother, daughter and sister as like goddess durga and refrain from using abusive, derogatory and unwarranted comments against them. The statement was seen as an oblique dig at the alleged derogatory words used against PM Modi's mother during a public meeting of Tejashwi at his "Bihar Adhikar Yatra' in Vaishali. Three days back Acharya, who had unsuccessfully contested the Saran parliamentary seat in 2024 general polls, had created controversy when she shared a photo in her Facebook account in which RJD MP Sanjay Yadav was seen sitting on the front seat of the custom-made bus used by Tejashwi during his latest Bihar Adhikar Yatra. The photo earlier put by one Alok Kumar was posted by Acharya in her account without any message, triggering speculations that the post was deliberate to show annoyance against Sanjay Yadav, who is said to be highly influential in the party owing to his closeness with Tejashwi. In the last two days, Acharya has put several posts in which she has tried to project herself as a committed daughter of Lalu. On Saturday, she had even changed her Facebook account to private for certain hours. For last few days , Achaya is staying in Patna, reports said, Meanwhile, Tejashwi's elder brother Tej Pratap, who was expelled by the RJD a few months back after a controversy over some pictures, too condemned the alleged derogatory words used against PM Modi's mother at a RJD rally yesterday. "Disrespecting somebody's mother is highly condemnable. Those responsible for it should be sent to jail immediately," Tej Pratap said in Patna. Tej Pratap in recent days has taken oblique digs at his younger brother and has come in support of Rohini, stating 'she is saying the right things. "The things Rohini is saying are right. She has done a lot for our father," Yadav said, implying that his second elder sister was taking a principled stand by taking digs at RJD's internal affairs and loyalists of Tejashwi. Insiders in the party said that Acharya's postures and Tej Pratap's support for her are indication that there is a rift among Yadav siblings. "A certain element of rift among Tejashwi and his brothers and sisters does exist. It could be attributed to rising clout of Tejashwi and his aides in handling all major affairs of the party including ticket distribution and selecting people for key posts in the organisation. That may have triggered some sibling rivalry," said a RJD leader, wishing not to be identified. RJD spokespersons did not give any official comment on the recent controversy surrounding Acharay's posts on social media platforms. On the other hand, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor said that the reports of the growing opposition against RJD MP Sanjay Yadav within his party was obvious as the latter hailing from Haryana was not being accepted by local leaders. "It is natural that somebody from Haryana is now teaching local leaders of the RJD political strategy. It is obvious , there is opposition now," said Kishor. In another development, Acharya also unfollowed Tejashwi, Lalu Prasad ,other family members and large number of RJD leaders as well as political figures on her X account, fuelling speculation that the 46- yr-old doctor turned politician was slowly distancing herself from her party. Reports said Acharya had high number of followers in her X account previously but on Sunday, it only remained three, none of them having any political allegiance. Deceased eminent poet Rahat Indori and Acharya's husband, Samaresh Singh are among those being followed by Lalu;s second daughter. In her Facebook account too, the photos in last few days has changed. Except for few pictures of her sharing fond moments with father and RJD chief Lalu Prasad, there are not many snaps of her with younger brother Tejashwi, indicating the growing sour relationship between the two Yadav siblings....
