'Provocative' statement: RJD MLC booked
PATNA, Nov. 14 -- An FIR was registered with the cyber police station here against RJD leader and MLC Sunil Singh for his "provocative statement and threat of creating a Nepal-like situation in case of any irregularity in counting, which could lead to animosity and create law and order problem". The case has been registered under various sections of the BNS, RP Act and IT Act.
DGP Vinay Kumar confirmed that an FIR was registered against the lawmaker under sections of the BNS, Representation of the People's Act and IT Act. The FIR was registered on the basis of the statement of on-duty police officer Khusbu Kumari.
Singh had issued a strong warning to election officials, cautioning against any attempt to manipulate the people's mandate, otherwise "the same scenes witnessed on the roads in Nepal and Bangladesh will be seen on the roads of Bihar as well".
Singh claimed in the 2020 state polls, many RJD candidates were forcibly defeated and urged vigilance to ensure such incidents did not repeat.
"We will not tolerate even one per cent of malpractice. I appeal to officials to act honestly: conduct the counting fairly, separate truth from falsehood, and perform your duties with integrity. Do not become guided instruments serving someone else," he told media persons on Thursday.
"The situation in Bihar could spiral out of control, as has happened in Nepal. People of Bihar are apprehensive, and many people will take to the streets. If the same misdeed you committed in 2020 - where no one knew anything about anyone for four hours - happens again, either my candidate or the returning officer will be exposed. I warn you. The entire state's public will hit the streets, and we will witness the same scenes you saw in Nepal," said the MLC.
RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha defended Sunil Singh, stating that the remark was misinterpreted and highlighting that the BJP was focusing on political rhetoric rather than development.
