Dehradun, Nov. 10 -- The Opposition Congress on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi disappointed the people of the state on the state's silver jubilee, claiming that he mentioned old schemes in his announcements. The Congress also accused the BJP of turning the silver jubilee celebrations into its party event. Speaking to reporters at the state headquarters in Dehradun, state Congress vice president (organization) Suryakant Dhasmana said, "PM Modi not only disappointed the youth, unemployed and women of the state but dashed the hopes of citizens affected by the recent disasters." "People in the disaster-affected areas were hoping that the Prime Minister would announce a package for them, but he didn't. The youth of the state hoped that a major employment and self-employment scheme would be announced, and women also hoped that the Prime Minister would dedicate a major women's empowerment scheme to the state on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee. However, all sections of the society were disappointed by Prime Minister Modi," Dhasmana said. "PM's announcements totaling Rs.8,000 crore include most of the old and ongoing projects, including the Song and Jamrani Dam projects," the Congress leader alleged. Dhasmana said that the BJP government in the state turned today's Silver Jubilee celebrations into a BJP event. "It was disappointing that the state government did not invite opposition parties to the Silver Jubilee celebrations, and the Congress was deliberately kept away from government programmes," he said. BJP, on the other hand, said Congress' allegations reflect their negative mindset and frustration....
