PATNA, Sept. 11 -- Even though close to a seat-sharing deal and the assembly elections drawing near, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc remains unclear about its chief ministerial candidate. Congress leader and All India Congress Committee (AICC) Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru has added to the ambiguity by saying that the people of Bihar should directly determine their chief minister through the polls. "It would be better if people of the state elect their chief minister in the upcoming assembly polls," he remarked, sidestepping pressure to name a specific face for the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) after a party meeting in New Delhi. He was interacting with the media at the AICC headquarters alongside Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) chief Rajesh Ram and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan. The Congress' reluctance to name a CM candidate has sparked tensions with the RJD, which has been vocal about Yadav's leadership credentials, adding complexity to the opposition's seat-sharing negotiations ahead of the October-November 2025 elections. The press conference, held after a series of high-level meetings with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and the BPCC screening committee, primarily focused on the contentious Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral rolls. Allavaru lambasted the Election Commission of India (ECI) for its delayed inclusion of Aadhaar as the 12th valid document for voter verification....
