Mumbai, Nov. 1 -- HT spoke to Anjal Prakash, coordinating lead author, United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC), and associate professor for regional water studies, TERI School of Advanced Studies about the recent report by Climate Central that showed the possibility of large scale inundation across Mumbai Metropolitan Region by 2050.

This study reaffirms the IPCC report that rise in sea levels is going to be the new normal for coastal cities in India, including Mumbai. Frequency of extreme weather events are going to be much higher under the current emission scenario.
