'Land mafia behind Mohan Das' disappearance'
Haridwar, Nov. 22 -- Senior seers of the Akhil Bharatiya Udasin Sampraday Sangat on Friday expressed concern that Uttar Pradesh-based land mafia, allegedly eyeing more than 400 bighas of Akhada land spread across several states, may have played a role in the mysterious disappearance of seer Mohan Das seven years ago.
Addressing a press briefing in Haridwar, the seers said the Akhada had long been receiving threats from individuals attempting to take control of ashram properties worth crores. He alleged that this sustained pressure could be linked to the disappearance of Mahant Mohan Das in 2017, while he was travelling from Haridwar to Mumbai. "We had approached the high court, which on October 3 ordered a CBI probe into the disappearance of Mahant Mohan Das," Mahant Dharmendra Das said.
He said, "Even today, we continue to receive threats from mafia elements eyeing Akhada property. We thank the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments for providing us security. We will fully cooperate with the CBI." HTC...
