'I don't want to appear greedy by asking for dy CM's post'
PATNA, Nov. 22 -- Union minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Friday said he did not wish to appear "greedy" by demanding the deputy chief minister's post, as he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Nitish Kumar for allocating two berths to his party in the new NDA-led Bihar cabinet.
Buoyed by the party's success in the last two polls - the recently concluded Bihar assembly elections where it won 19 of the 29 seats and the parliamentary elections last year when the LJP(RV) won all the five seats it contested - Paswan said he wished to expand the party's footprints beyond Bihar as "an NDA partner" in states like West Bengal, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, where state polls were lined up.
Addressing a press conference at the party office in Patna, Paswan said, "I don't wish to be seen as greedy by demanding the deputy CM's post." He added that any responsibility entrusted within the NDA framework was significant, and that all ministers would work "as a unit" to implement the alliance's commitments on development and employment.
Paswan also outlined ambitious expansion plans for the party beyond Bihar. "After winning 19 seats in the recently concluded assembly polls in Bihar, we are now preparing to expand the party's base in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. We will contest the upcoming assembly elections there as part of the NDA," he said.
Announcing a statewide tour after Makar Sankranti - scheduled post the December Parliament session - Paswan said the visit would be dedicated to thanking the people of Bihar....
