Public urged to flag firecracker use as delhi enforces ban
New Delhi, July 14 -- The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) on Sunday issued a public notice urging residents to report any individual or organisation found storing, selling, manufacturing, or bursting firecrackers in the city.
Citing the Supreme Court's November 2024, order and a subsequent Delhi government directive from December 2024, the DPCC said a complete year-round ban on all firecrackers is in effect under Section 5 of Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
Violations will face legal action, officials said, adding that complaints can be filed via ngms.delhi.gov.in, Green Delhi app, helpline 155271, or 112. "This notice is part of the SC's awareness drive," said a senior official....
