Noida, Dec. 10 -- The Gautam Budh Nagar administration has told the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that a periodic cleaning of key drains is being carried out to safeguard river's health and stem pollution in the Ganga basin. The matter is being heard in a 2022 case related to pollution in drains falling into Hindon and the need for improved waste management in urban local bodies of western UP. As part of the proceedings, the state placed on record a compliance submission on September 10, 2025, followed by additional material filed this Monday. The documents show that the district's urban bodies have undertaken systematic desiltation and cleaning of key drains and nullahs that carry wastewater into the Hindon and its feeder tributaries. "The submission has been filed in compliance with the directions passed by the NGT, principal bench, New Delhi," the state said.
