Noida, May 21 -- A 45-year-old man was charred to death after two school buses parked in Transport Nagar area of Sector 69, Noida, got engulfed in a blaze on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, said police. Officials aware of the investigation in the freak accident said that they suspect that a short-circuit in a battery sparked the deadly blaze. Police identified the deceased as Ram Naresh, a bus conductor of a private school bus who was originally from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh and was living in Noida. "On Tuesday around 12.15am, the fire control room received information on emergency helpline number from locals that two buses parked at the Transport Nagar caught fire. Three fire tenders from surrounding fire stations rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire within an hour," said Phase 3 fire officer Yogendra Prasad. "After dousing the fire, when we entered inside the buses to check, a man's charred body was found in a bus. We were not informed that a man was stuck inside the bus when the fire broke out," the officer added. Both the buses were attached to a private school in Sector 62 and used to be parked in Transport Nagar, police said. "On Monday night, the bus driver was sleeping on the terrace of a bus while the conductor was asleep inside. As the fire broke out, the driver jumped off and escaped. However, the conductor did not find a way to escape and was charred to death," said Phase 3 station house officer (SHO) Dhruv Bhusan Dubey. Police said that during investigation, a fan and a battery were found next to the conductor's body. "We were informed that they used to use the fan with a battery. It was suspected that a short-circuit took place, which led to the incident," said SHO Dubey. Initially, the fire took place in one bus. But as the fire engulfed it, another bus from the same school parked at close range also caught fire and gutted. "No case has been registered, and further investigation is underway," the SHO added....
