Noida, Sept. 7 -- A 51-year-old Noida astrologer was arrested late Saturday night for allegedly sending a hoax WhatsApp message to the Mumbai traffic police control room warning of a terrorist attack in the city with 400 kilograms of RDX, police said. The suspect, identified as Ashwini Kumar Supra, was traced to his Sector 79 residence and handed over to Mumbai police within hours. The threat message had claimed that 14 terrorists of the "Lashkar-e-Jihadi" group had entered Mumbai with 400 kg of RDX loaded in 34 vehicles. Officials said the Mumbai police received the hoax message on Friday, prompting a citywide high alert. The Gautam Budh Nagar Commissioner of Police (ADG) Laxmi Singh was informed by the Joint Commissioner of Mumbai (Crime) about the suspect's location in Noida. "The Mumbai police already arrived in the city on Friday, but as the suspect switched off his phone," said a senior officer requesting anonymity. A team under additional commissioner of police Rajeev Narayan Mishra and SWAT in charge Yatendra traced the SIM card vendor, scanned CCTV footage, and identified Supra near a Sector 79 grocery shop. A delivery boy confirmed his residence, leading to his detention. Initially denying involvement, Supra admitted during interrogation that he planned the threat to frame his Patna-based friend Firoz, with whom he had a money-related dispute. Mishra confirmed, "The suspect was handed over to Mumbai police as the case under BNS was registered against him at Worli." Police said Supra, originally from Patliputra in Patna, is an MA pass-out and has lived in Noida for five years. He was earlier jailed for three months after Firoz filed a case against him.
