MCD mulls multi-level car parks, digitisation
New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is planning parking reforms, including digitisation, app-linked smart parking, higher one-time registration fees, and phasing out roadside lots causing congestion, officials said Monday. "We are in conversation with NIC to develop an app.
This will allow direct payments to MCD and auto-deduction of MLF, giving financial control to the corporation," a senior official said. Users will book slots via app, with entry and exit times recorded.
The MCD, which runs 430 lots, has equipped 20 with RFID/FASTag and last month fined contractors Rs.24 lakh for overcharging. Another official said roadside lots may be closed, based on Delhi Traffic Police inputs.paras singh...
