Ghaziabad, Dec. 13 -- A Ghaziabad court on Thursday sentenced a now 32-year-old man to life imprisonment for killing his 38-year-old aunt during a robbery at her Indirapuram flat in 2015. In an order dated December 11, the court of additional district and sessions judge Bharat Singh Yadav, said: "The prosecution has been able to provide a chain of circumstances that only indicate that the accused has committed the crime. The facts and circumstances have been proved beyond a reasonable doubt, and Hariom is found guilty of robbery and murder, and the stolen items were also recovered from him." The court awarded Hariom life in prison and a fine of Rs.50,000 under Indian Penal Code Section 302, and 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs.40,000 under IPC Section 394. The murder was reported on October 30, 2015, when the then 17-year-old daughter of the deceased woman - Rajbala Saini - entered the house with her father, and saw her mother severely injured and her hands and legs tied up. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead. It was also found that the assailants had fled with smartphones, watches, jewellery and about Rs.1.25 lakh. An FIR under sections 302 (murder) and 394 (causing hurt during robbery) of the IPC was registered against unidentified persons at Indirapuram police station the same day. At the crime scene, police found two teacups and biscuits on the table, suggesting that there were two assailants who gained a friendly entry to the house. It was Karwa Chauth that day and the woman was fasting. On November 5, 2015, police arrested key suspect Hariom Saini, nephew of the deceased, and apprehended his accomplice, a minor boy. Sunil Kaushik, additional district government counsel, said: "Police tracked Saini using the mobile phone he stole from the woman's house. The present case dealt only with the offence committed by Saini."...
