Noida, Oct. 29 -- A gang operating from an office in Noida Sector 18 allegedly duped five men of Rs.3.95 lakh on the pretext of providing them jobs abroad, police said on Tuesday, adding that a case of cheating has been lodged at Sector 20 police station and a team formed to nab the suspects.
Police said the victim, Umesh Kumar Shah, is a resident of Nayagaon in Bihar and a qualified electrician from ITI.
In his complaint, Shah alleged that over a year ago, while searching for a foreign job, his uncle told him to approach a man in Faridabad, Haryana, for help. The FIR states that in May 2024, Shah and his uncle met the man and paid him Rs.80,000 in July for a job in Russia. "After one year of excuses, he asked me to visit their Sector 18 office," the FIR said. "On September 2, Shah paid Rs.5,000 to a woman in that office to later collect passport and visa," said an official, adding, however, on September 13, the office was found shut and they realised to have been scammed.
In his complaint, Shah said that during his last visit to that Sector 18 office, he came across four others "who were duped of total Rs.3.1 lakh". "Police have lodged a case under various BNS sections," police said.Arun SingH...
