New Delhi, Aug. 6 -- A day after tabling the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill, the Assembly on Tuesday saw sharp debate, with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) urging it be sent to a select committee. Education minister Ashish Sood said the bill seeks a transparent, stakeholder-based system to regulate private school fee hikes. Bharatiya Janata Party's Satish Upadhyay termed it essential to protect parents, but AAP's Atishi called it a "legal cover" to raise fees, saying parent-suggested amendments would be voted on Wednesday. She also flagged slum demolitions. MLAs raised issues like waterlogging in Kirari, stray dog management, pension delays, and a riot-damaged hospital in Shiv Vihar still awaiting repairs....
