HC closes plea against Delhi CS
New Delhi, May 20 -- The Delhi high court on Monday closed a contempt plea against the chief secretary and police commissioner after the Directorate of Education (DoE) circulated a 115-point standard operating procedure (SOP) for bomb threats in schools. Justice Anish Dayal noted that DoE counsel Sameer Vashisht had sent [the SOP] to all stakeholders with directions that it should be complied with, while Delhi Police will issue an updated circular to every police station. A DoE circular has also been uploaded online, additional director Shreya Singhal said. Advocate Arpit Bhargava had sought contempt action for ignoring a November 14 deadline, arguing hoax threats were multiplying, but the judge disposed of the plea and refused to direct curbs on VPN or darkweb use, saying, These are serious issues... to be dealt with by the executive.
