gzb: Woman held for killing adopted son over 'theft'
Ghaziabad, May 19 -- A 45-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday for allegedly strangling her 12-year-old adopted son for stealing money from her grocery shop's safe in Tronica City, police said, adding that the child originally belonged to her sister.
The accused, Rehmati Khatum, a resident of Daulatnagar, was held by a Tronica City police team a day after a murder case was registered.
"On Wednesday we received information from Ajmati Khatun, a resident of Begusarai, Bihar, that her 12-year-old son was strangled to death by her sister Rehmati," said Surendra Nath Tiwari, DCP, Ghaziabad Rural. "Following the complaint, a case for murder under BNS section 103 was registered on Saturday and the accused was held. She told police that the boy stole cash on Wednesday which made her furious and she strangled him. He fainted... Neighbours rushed him to a hospital where doctors declared him dead, making her flee," the DCP added....
