Gzb: man held for circulating fake currency
Ghaziabad, Aug. 7 -- A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly purchasing counterfeit currency notes and circulating these in trans-Hindon localities of Ghaziabad, the police said on Wednesday.
Police identified him as Ujjwal Jha, a resident of Mandoli, Delhi, working at a pharmaceutical firm. He was arrested in Vasundhara Sector 1 area while heading to hand over fake currency to a contact, said officers. "During interrogation, he said an online friend, met a few months ago on social media, offered to provide him fake notes with the face value of Rs.3 lakh for Rs.1 lakh. He bought them and circulated in markets," said ACP (Indirapuram circle) Abhishek Srivastava.
Jha is suspected to be a link in the chain where fake notes are getting printed and supplied further, officers said. Police seized 566 fake currency notes of Rs.500 denomination allegedly from his possession.
Jha has been booked for cheating and under other sections of the BNS at Indirapuram police station, officers added....
