Greater Noida, Jan. 3 -- A 31-year-old man died after falling from the balcony of a 15th-floor flat in Greater Noida while celebrating new year early on Thursday, police said. The deceased has been identified as Vineet Prasad, a native of Bihar who worked as a career counsellor in Greater Noida. Initial investigation remains ongoing; however, the death appears to be accidental at this stage, police said. "This incident took place around 3am on Thursday when Prasad was partying with his friends, all in their late 20s and early 30s. He suddenly fell from the balcony of the flat where the friends had gathered. As of now, the death appears to be accidental," said Manoj Kumar Singh, station house officer of Bisrakh police station, adding that a neighbour alerted the police through the emergency helpline. Police said the victim was rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment but was declared dead by doctors. He sustained serious injuries to his head and face, which are suspected to be the cause of death. Santosh Kumar, additional deputy commissioner of police (Central Noida), said: "Prasad lived with his flatmate in a Greater Noida society and had gone to a party at a friend's flat in another block of the same society." According to police, Prasad's friends initially left the spot after the accident out of fear, but were later called in for questioning to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. Preliminary inquiry has been completed and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. "No case has been registered so far. Further investigation will reveal whether a case needs to be filed," Kumar said....
