GB Nagar boosts vector disease watch
NOIDA, June 29 -- With the monsoon season increasing the risk of vector-borne diseases, the Gautam Budh Nagar health department on Saturday held a clinical training workshop for private doctors and nursing home operators on managing and reporting dengue, chikungunya, and malaria cases.
The workshop, chaired by chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Narendra Kumar at Gaur Sarovar Premier in Gaur City, focused on implementing national guidelines.
Organised with PATH-CHRI and funded by Godrej Consumer Products Limited, the session was conducted by Dr Anupama Verma from LLRM Medical College, Meerut. Doctors were trained to follow protocols and report confirmed fever cases on the Unified Disease Surveillance Portal (UDSP).
"Timely uploading. enables prompt case-based action," said Dr Amrit Shukla, PATH-Centre for Health Research and Innovation.
"A drop in platelet count alone does not cause death in dengue patients," Dr Kumar said, stressing symptomatic care and warning against aspirin or ibuprofen.
Dr Shruti Kirti Verma highlighted testing all fever cases for malaria. "No malaria deaths have been reported in UP in 2024," said Dr Verma....
