Delhi: ACP fails to repay money to staff, suspended
New Delhi, Nov. 4 -- A day before his retirement, an ACP from east Delhi was suspended for allegedly cheating the department and failing to return money he borrowed from colleagues, senior police officers said.
The vigilance department has initiated an inquiry.
Officials said Rohtash Kumar, 60, ACP (Mayur Vihar), was due to retire on October 31. Police said he had borrowed lakhs of rupees from multiple officers at different police stations, allegedly misusing his position and never repaying the money. An officer said, "He took advantage of his posting as SHO at several stations and borrowed large sums from colleagues and even public, citing various excuses."
