Delhi: 18-year-old help critical after 'falling off' third floor flat
NEW DELHI, Sept. 19 -- An 18-year-old woman was critically injured after allegedly jumping from the third floor of a building in east Delhi's Madhu Vihar on Wednesday evening. Police said she is undergoing treatment at a hospital, and the circumstances of the fall are under investigation.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Madhu Vihar police station.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (east) Vinit Kumar said Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital alerted police at 5.26pm about the admission of the injured woman. She worked as domestic help in a flat in Vardhan Apartments, whose owner, Ashok Karnani, runs a hardware store in Sadar Bazar.
Preliminary statements suggested she was caught allegedly stealing Rs.3,000 by the owner's wife. "On being confronted, she went back to the kitchen and allegedly jumped out of a small window," Kumar said.
A senior officer added that the family claimed they threatened to inform her maternal relatives. The woman was rushed to LBS Hospital and later referred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where she remains in the ICU.
The crime team is verifying the family's statements and probing the case from all angles, including suspicion of assault....
