Ghaziabad, Feb. 14 -- The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) on Thursday said it will carry out detailed sampling after four of 14 samples of groundwater collected from Raj Nagar residential area tested positive for high levels of hexavalent chromium (chromium 6).

Chromium 6 is a toxic form of chromium compound that is man-made and widely used in different industries.

According to World Health Organization, most of the known health impacts of chromium 6 are related to inhalation. But there is now strong data linking ingestion of chromium 6 (through drinking water) causing health effects.
