Blaze at furniture godown in Sec-10
Noida, Aug. 14 -- A fire broke out at a terrace of four-storey furniture godown in Sector 10, Noida on Wednesday afternoon, requiring 10 fire tenders to control the blaze, officials said, adding that no casualties were reported.
It is suspected a short-circuit sparked the fire, said officials.
"Around 12.15 pm, we received information from locals on the fire control room that a fire broke out on the terrace of a building in Sector 10," said Gautam Budh Nagar's chief fire officer (CFO) Pradeep Kumar Chaubey, adding that following the alert fire tenders and an articulated water tower were dispatched.
He said that it took an hour to fully douse the fire, using an advanced fire fighting system.
"The fire broke out on the terrace, where all the furniture from other floors was stored. Due to the wooden materials, firefighters used breathing apparatus sets and smoke extinguisher machines to control the fire," the CFO added.
Another fire broke out at a students' locked flat on 4th floor in Sector 113, said officials.
"Around 1.30pm, Wednesday, we were informed about a fire in Sarfabad, and four fire tenders were pressed into service," the CFO said.
Officials said that an initial investigation revealed that after a battery exploded, a gas cylinder kept nearby also caught fire.
"Nobody suffered injuries since the flat was locked, and fire was also controlled before it could spread to other floors of the four-storey building." Chaubey added....
