MUMBAI, May 2 -- The women and child development (WCD) department took top honours, while three departments headed by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis (general administration) and his two deputies, Eknath Shinde (urban development) and Ajit Pawar (food and civil supplies), found themselves at the bottom of the scorecard that evaluated the performance of departments competing in the 100-day administrative reform programme of the Mahayuti government. A total of 48 departments were evaluated by the Quality Council of India (QCI), an independent agency, for their performance during the first 100 days of the new government which took office in December last year. The idea was to improve the administrative machinery, enhance transparency and accountability, and ensure better governance. The WCD department led by Aditi Tatkare (NCP) occupied the top slot, with an 80% success rate; followed by PWD led by Shivendraraje Bhosale (BJP) with 77.95%, while agriculture department, led by Manikrao Kokate (NCP), was placed third with 66.15%.P4...
