MUMBAI, Dec. 13 -- Nationalist Congress Party (SP) president Sharad Pawar turned 85 on Friday, with the party marking the occasion through a meet-and-greet event at the YB Chavan Centre in Mumbai. Loyalists, office-bearers, workers and well-wishers gathered to greet the leader. The celebrations began on December 10 in New Delhi, where Pawar hosted a dinner for senior leaders and MPs from across parties at his residence on 6, Janpath. Despite the split within the NCP in 2023, his nephew and NCP president Ajit Pawar attended the dinner along with party working president Praful Patel. Pawar, whose political journey began with the Congress in 1958, has been one of India's most influential leaders for over six decades. He currently serves as a Rajya Sabha MP, with his term set to end in April 2026. On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to Pawar, posting on X, "Birthday wishes to Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sharad Pawar Ji. Wishing him a long and healthy life."...
