vasai virar: BJP, BVA workers clash, police lathicharge
Mumbai, Jan. 16 -- The Vasai Virar police had to resort to lathicharge in two poll-related incidents on voting day. Civic commissioner Manoj Suryawanshi said police did it to disperse BJP and Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) supporters at Seth Vidyalaya in Achole near Nalasopara. Sources said BVA workers stopped a zonal officer and questioned him about the EVMs in his vehicle. BJP supporters also gathered at the scene and heated arguments broke out between the two groups. The police had to lathicharge to bring the situation under control. In another incident, at Pelhar, police lathicharged to disperse a group of people who came after voting ended to cast their votes....
