Two killed in accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway
PUNE, Nov. 24 -- Two people were killed and four others injured on Sunday when a cement-mixer truck lost control and crashed into a car at 3:45 am on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway.
According to police, the driver of a cement-mixer truck travelling from Pune towards Mumbai lost control, causing it to hit the crash barrier between the two lanes.
The impact threw the truck across the divider into the opposite lane, where it overturned and collided head-on with a car coming from the Mumbai side, the police said.
The deceased have been identified as Vivek Surendra Pratapsingh, 30, a resident of Post Darshannagar, Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh; and the truck driver, Anurag Jagdish Gadwa, a resident of Chakkar Ghatta, Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, who died on the spot.
Four others suffered serious injuries, three passengers from the car and one cleaner travelling in the truck. All injured persons were rushed to Pawana Hospital, Somatne Phata, for treatment.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)....
