Two killed as bike crashes into parked tempo on weh
MUMBAI, May 10 -- Two hotel kitchen staffers were killed early Friday after their motorcycle crashed into a stationary tempo on the Western Express Highway in Vile Parle. The tempo had reportedly stopped to change a flat tyre without setting up barricades or turning on hazard lights.
The victims, Chirag Nair, 20, of Andheri West and Tushar Khandagale, 25, of Andheri East, were returning home after their shift at a Bandra West hotel ended around 4 am. The crash occurred around 4.30 am. near the Ramnagar Subway.
Police said the tempo was parked on a dimly lit stretch of road and lacked proper warning signals. Chirag, who was riding the motorcycle, and Tushar, the pillion rider, failed to notice the vehicle in time. Both suffered fatal head injuries after being thrown off the bike.
Passersby alerted authorities, and the victims were taken to Cooper Hospital, where they were declared dead. The tempo driver fled the scene and has been booked under the BNS and Motor Vehicles Act....
