MUMBAI, June 29 -- Two men drowned at Haji Ali while immersing the ashes of a relative, one of them the son of the deceased, on Saturday evening. A third individual who had accompanied them was rescued after strong monsoon currents drew all three into the ocean. The incident took place at Lotus Jetty at around 5:30pm. "We tried to stop them as the sea was choppy and the currents were strong," said Neeliima Kulkarni, senior police inspector with the Tardeo Police. "They refused to listen and argued with the police. Finally, they went ahead." As the three men struggled to maintain their balance on slippery rocks, they were swept into the sea by the high tide. They were pulled out by local fishermen and the police. While two of them were declared dead on admission to Nair Hospital, the third individual is receiving medical treatment. The deceased are identified as Santosh Vishweshwar, 51, whose mother's ashes were being immersed, and Kunal Kokate, 45. An official said Sanjay Sarvankar is in stable condition....
