Trio kill man over property dispute, dump body in drain
Mumbai, Aug. 29 -- A 26-year-old was murdered due to a land dispute and hidden away in the large drainage pipes of a housing society in Byculla on Tuesday. Based on CCTV footage, the police tracked down and arrested the three accused, one of whom is the victim's uncle.
On Tuesday, residents of the Surykund Building on Gunpowder road in Mazgoan, Byculla found an unidentified body in the drainage pipeline of the society, and informed the Byculla police. Investigations revealed that the deceased, Keshav Choudhary (alias Rahul) had come to the city in search of a job and was living with his uncle.
The police said that on Monday the victim had gone drinking with the accused, Giridhari Roy, 38, a security guard at the society, Mrityunjay Jha, 37, the victim's uncle, a security guard in Sewri, and Sunny Kumar Choudhary, 21, a resident of Guru Himmat society in Byculla. All four of them came from a village in Darbhanga, Bihar.
According to the police, the victim got into a property dispute with his uncle over some land in their village. The argument escalated into a violent fight where the three accused beat the victim to death. "The accused then threw his body in the drainage pipeline," said the police officer.
According to the police, they identified Roy via CCTV footage, and nabbed him and Sunny from the Bhusawal station while they were trying to flee. The police had already identified and arrested the victim's uncle, while the other two were on the run.
The police said they have registered a case against the trio under sections 103 (murder) and 238 (causing the disappearance of evidence of a crime, or providing false information to protect an offender) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)....
