Three booked for cheating MP trader
Mumbai, Sept. 21 -- The Powai police have booked three unidentified persons for allegedly cheating an Indore-based exporter of Rs.41 lakh after promising him gold at a cheap rate.
According to the police, 48-year-old Piyush Gupta, a garment exporter, was introduced to a certain Amit Jain by his Mumbai-based friend. Jain wanted to sell gold at a 10% discount compared to the prevailing market rate, he was told.
"When Gupta met Jain and two accomplices on September 12, they said they had gold in their bag and took possession of his cash bag. Then, a numberless Toyota Innova appeared and the occupants started beating the person who had the cash bag and took him away," said a police officer. Jain then told Gupta that it was a police raid and they would return his cash bag soon. Later, Gupta found their phones switched off and realised he had been cheated....
