Teen rams SUV into parked vehicles in Belapur; 1 injured
NAVI MUMBAI, March 15 -- A 35-year-old woman was seriously injured and at least six vehicles were damaged after a speeding SUV allegedly driven by an unlicensed teenager rammed into parked vehicles in CBD Belapur on Friday evening, police said.
The victim, Mohini Popat Shinde, sustained injuries to her head and knees after being hit and dragged for a few feet after being struck by the vehicle.
The accident occurred around 5.30 pm near the Central Bank Co-operative Housing Society compound in Sector 8, officials said.
Police said the Scorpio first struck a motorcycle and then crashed into multiple parked vehicles, including cars and an autorickshaw, along the roadside.
Archis Abhaychandra Sawant, whose motorcycle was among the damaged vehicles, said he rushed outside after hearing the crash.
"I heard a loud sound and when I stepped out, I saw that a black Scorpio had rammed into my parked motorcycle and several other vehicles on the roadside," Sawant said in his complaint.
Bystanders took the injured woman to MGM Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. The police registered an FIR against the vehicles's owner Akash Chandrakant Kamble, 26, and Vikram Gangadhar Kamble, 19, who was allegedly driving the vehicle without a licence. The duo have been booked under relevant sections of the BNS and Motor Vehicles Act for rash and negligent driving....
