Technical fault sparks 5-hour outage in Thane
Thane, March 30 -- Over 150,000 residents in Thane faced a more than five-hour power outage on Sunday morning after a technical fault in a 220 kV feeder disrupted supply across several areas.
The disruption began around 6am and impacted areas from Hiranandani Estate to Chena near Fountain Hotel. Power supply was restored by around 11am, officials said.
An official from Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited said the fault originated at the Patlipada extra high voltage substation due to heavy load and tripping.
The disruption hit residents, with several housing societies reporting non-functional lifts, affecting senior citizens and children. Water supply was also impacted as pumping systems could not operate without power....
