Pune, July 5 -- A man detained over alleged rape charges was released from police custody on Friday after investigators discovered significant inconsistencies in the complainant's account, including evidence that the two were friends and that key evidence may have been fabricated. Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar said the 22-year-old IT professional had known the suspect for a year, contradicting her initial allegation that he was an unknown delivery executive who forced entry into her Kondhwa flat.
